Lets Go Man Hunting

"All the good men r either married or in a relationship, besides u don't find good guys in clubs,u find them at weddings and friends parties"

- A single Lagos babe

Okay ladies,we are going to try figure this one out together,The above statement was issued by a very beautiful, intelligent friend of mine who recently repatriated back to the city of lagos from london town. > >

Upon my dear friends return to lagos last september she took to the clubs of lagos with the determination of the US soldiars in Iraq,it was caliente today, rehab tomorow and her new favourite spot De Marquee(basicly the new big boys hangout) in her hunt to find an eligible bachelor.

Her requirements were not much, just the normal well educated, attractive with prospects and a sense of humour. But since her arrival she has experienced her first golddiger, under g married man,guy with offshore girlfriend and recently stingy igbo man(you see my friend is yoruba and taught maybe her poor turnout was tribal).

So I think you would agree with me that she is an active dater, and hence her words gave me food for taught. Could it be true that randomly meeting up with the love of your life and future father of your children could not happen at the bar of auto lounge or the pay till at ice cream factory or even at your neighborhood vulcanizer??? Yes this is lagos...the roads are bad so we make pit stops like my own hubby Hamilton does on the formula 1 tracks.

Are weddings and naming ceremonies of our lucky girl friends our only option now??.As usual I asked my older girlfriends about their opinions to this decleration, and a lot of them agreed that introductions through mutual friends and church events were the major avenues to meet eligible bachelors in todays dating scene and they had a lot of happily married couples as testimonials.

I personally believe that its possible to meet a decent guy anywhere, although I have enjoyed a few good dates through the mutual friend introduction route and those weren't all successful, however this decelaration would serve as some sort of explanation for the high percentage of single girls that attend weddings every saturday in lagos,at a recent society wedding I attended the MC(Ik Osakioduwa)had to announce to the single men to pay attention to the girls who had spent hundreds of thousand on hair extensions and designer bags and grant them the attention they sought,so even the men are in on this theory too

I refuse to agree that people don't met decent guys randomly,I mean my best mate met her current boyfriend in a club!!!?? Or could she just be the exception and we the rule.

I think it all comes down to the females attitude while out dancing and generally in your daily activities. We need to make ourselves more approachable and stop hanging in massive hoards of girls all pouting and giving guys attitude in their attempt to come off sexy, which is the norm on a night out now,I can not keep count of the number of invites on a night out just so I could even out the groups pulling power for the night.> I think we should put a smile on,go out with our girls and genuinely have a nice time and stop fixating on if the guy with d cute butt is coming to ask you for your number and you never know he just might...

De Marquee

This sophisticated penthouse restaurant and lounge is one of my favorite chill out spots at the moment, located at Victoria Island Lagos Nigeria, with its panoramic view of the commercial center of the city of Lagos providing you with that feeling of calmness while observing a very alive city.
The décor of white drapes and earthy furnishing gives it that metropolitan/ethnic feeling that truly represents modern Africa, the service is polite and could even be regarded as impressive given the usual customer service standards in Lagos. The food presentation is simplistic and neat, none of that fancy arty presentations that are usually found in restaurants of this standard, with the taste been orgasmic ;). The lounge offers a mix of Neo-soul music on Saturday nights, think fine wine, delicious food while listening to Maxwell and Joe.

This lounge also offers intimate live concerts, and would be hosting MOBO award winning artist Nneka this Sunday 18th April 2010.
